Choosing an animated film

When decided upon what animated film would be the most effective to dub I watched some that had been dubbed by other people on my voice acting websites. I soon found that films with musical numbers with large ensembles weren't as effective as films with little or no songs. It is hard to get an effective full choir sound with people recording their lines separately.

Due to this, I've been looking at films without songs or with few and I came up with a shortlist of three:

Toy Story
Finding Nemo
Up

After watching all three films I have chosen Finding Nemo because it is one of my favourite films and I think it'll be more enjoyable and therefore easier to do this project if i'm working on a film I know well and like.

An introduction to the project

My name is Izzy Watkins and I am using this blogger page to present my journey in creating a fan dub of an animated film. When deciding upon what to do for my EPQ I knew I wanted to so something to do with my favourite subject at college: Media Studies. This project will focus on post-production parts of media, particularly audio and editing so I think this project will work to my strengths and help me to develop my skills in these areas of media production. A hobby I have outside of the classroom is voice acting. I use the websites CastingCallClub and Behind the Voice Actor to audition for projects including: podcasts, songs, voice-overs, audio-books and fandubs.
